Pop-up outdoor theatre is coming to the stunning setting of the Bishop’s Palace, Wells.
Suffolk based theatre company Boxtree Productions are bringing their adaptation of ‘Around The World In 80 Days‘ to The Bishop’s Palace on Friday 12th August and will perform an open-air family-friendly musical adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic adventure story.
James Franklin, Co-founder of Boxtree Productions invites families to join Phileas Fogg and his valet Passepartout in this musical adventure. He says ‘with action, puppetry, original songs and a little bit of romance, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.’ He continues to explain ‘we will take you on an exciting adventure around the World with Fogg and his friends in this wonderful setting. We feel very honoured to be a part of the Bishop’s Palace events calendar this year.’
The story concerns Phileas Fogg who sets out, on a bet, to travel around the world in 80 days. With his faithful valet Passepartout they travel by steamer, train, sledge and even an elephant across countries and continents as fast as they can. They fight Sioux Indians, battle storms and even rescue a Princess on their journey. However, they are followed by detective Fix, who believes that Fogg is a bank robber on the run from the law and is determined to catch him and collect the reward. Will Fogg and Passepartout make it back to London in time? Will detective Fix catch them? Has Passepartout left the gas on? All these questions will be answered in this exciting and engaging open air production featuring original songs, trains, boats and even an elephant!
‘Around The World In 80 Days’ is an open-air production and will go ahead regardless of the weather. Tickets start from just £9 and are available via: www.bishopspalace.org.uk
