If you are someone who takes their barbecue and sounds seriously then head to Bristol’s Harbourside this weekend for some amazing music and great grills. Grillstock mixes beats with meat in a sensory overload of grilling competition, food festival, live bands and all round spectacle.
Grillstock festival is serving up folk rockers The Levellers, who headline on Saturday night, after the crowds have been warmed up by Scottish indie stars The Fratellis. The pace doesn’t slow on Sunday, with the Cuban Brothers ready to get hips swaying before British legends The Stranglers take to the stage. Bringing the blues to the BBQ will be Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band and the Mariachis will be adding a bit of Latino spice.
The Dive Bar Stage boasts its most epic line-up to date, with top audio visual artist DJ Cheeba, Bristol bands The 45’s, The Jacques and Mad Apple Circus along with hip hop DJ duo Nextman, Gaz’ Rockin’ Blues, garage rockers Fruit Bomb, Benny Guitar Carr and The Wholls.
To add to the show plenty of people have taken up the challenge of Grillstock’s eating competitions. The weekend will see the fiery challenge of dining on the hottest chillis on the plane, contestants wolfing down as many hot dogs as they in just five minutes in the French’s Mustard hot dog eating competition and brave souls chowing down on buckets of smokin’ hot chicken wings in the Frank’s RedHot wing eating challenge. The events are all full and the stage is set for the audience to cheer on the brave competitors.
Get a ticket and take a weekend off your clean eating regime; whatever you do don’t ask for alfalfa sprouts or a tumeric latte. This one is all about celebrating ‘dirty’ food and even grungier music. Saturday is sold out but tickets are available for Sunday online.
