New safer road plan for Wrington

Wrington Parish Council is calling for local residents to comment on proposals to improve pedestrian safety.

The junction of High Street, Broad Street and Silver Street is set to change if the plans are approved.  There will be a new pavement from School Road to around the corner in Silver Street.  An new marked crossing from the garage to the noticeboard outside Amors is also planned.

Email comments to clerk_wrington@hotmail.com.  The Parish Council is calling for responses by Friday 10 June.

  • As a shop owner overlooking this corner I agree that it is essential to do something to make it safer. The speed of the traffic coming down High Street coupled with the amount of cars parked between The Plough and Buglers makes it a difficult place to cross, even with an official crossing. Narrowing the road on the Corner with a pavement will naturally encourage traffic to slow down there. It is important to retain some parking spaces between Amors as Buglers as shoppers need somewhere to pull up and use local shops. Perhaps along with the suggested pavement a mini roundabout would improve speed and safety of traffic from all directions.
